A bit about my walk so far…

Hello! I’m Lisa Porter, Certified Life Coach.

I am so glad you found

Walk Wisely into Wellness.

When you think about your life, there are so many aspects to consider.  My life has many twists and turns leading me to where I am today.  I am genuinely thrilled to be on this journey of life coaching.  I come from a background of helping others: children, adolescents and adults.  I have a Masters in Counseling, with a PPS credential, a teaching credential and 30 years of experience working in education and counseling.   I am now a Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster youth. My career has been in counseling therefore after retirement, I decided to follow my dream of life coaching which enables me to use the skills and experiences I have to work with others on their life journey to walk their own path.

I chose Walk Wisely because walking is another passion of mine.  I love to walk.  Walking big distances started with me training to walk the Portland Marathon back in 2005 when I turned 40.  I also love to hike, get out into nature, and I always say if you can still talk while you're walking that’s a great thing!  I had a stint with Atrial Fibrillation but my heart has healed and is strong again, that is why Walk Wisely into Wellness has become my mantra.  Walking clears my head, pumps oxygen through my veins and invigorates me.  My dog, Mochi, is also a great tag along, always ready for a walk.  I walked a portion of the Camino de Santiago from Porto, Portugal to Santiago, Spain which made me want even more walking experiences.

I retired in 2022 and finally took my GAP year! My husband and I sold our home, bought a 5th wheel trailer and took off roaming the western states.  I thought that would keep me feeling content with all the adventures I was having,  but I began to feel a nudge to stay in the counseling game, keep connecting with people, and be a contributor to other’s well being, thus Life Coaching became a reality.

I will be the first one to say, “I don’t have all the answers”.  You don’t really want my answers anyway.  I know that working together, asking intentional questions, and trusting someone can help to move a person to change their mindset, ponder other options and begin to walk the path they feel is wise, intentional and authentic.  I desire to be on that path with you.

Brief Herstory…

I was born in Susanville Ca., youngest with three older brothers.  I married at 20, graduated college and started teaching in 1989…. This year I turn 60. My immediate family consists of my husband, Dale, of 40 years, my daughter, Breah and her husband, Will,  my son, Gabriel and his wife, Elisha.  I am expecting my first grandson soon and I am looking forward to being Lolo.   (loved choosing my grandma name!)  The next ⅓ of my life I am seeking JOY, connections with others, and time in the beautiful outdoors to nourish my soul and leave a legacy of love above all else.  There are many gaps in my story so fill those in with laughter, tears, adventure, travel, career decisions, disappointments, challenges, raising my children, caring for my parents as they aged, then passed in my home with Hospice, and now bonding with my grandson……

I’m walking my path too!

Grateful for the journey, the life lessons I’ve learned, the opportunity to keep living and growing.
